GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING INFO
Cathy Mcghin from the Tallahassee Police Department was the guest speaker.
She spoke briefly about the Homeland Security Act and how it has/will
affect us as citizens of the United States as well as
community members. She passed out a brochure that gave important
contact information as well as useful websites regarding the Homeland Security Act.
Her talk mainly concentrated on identity theft and how to protect
yourself from it. She stressed that there are so many ways for
thieves to steal your identity and money and that we should
all be vigilant in protecting ourselves and our privacy.
Nicole Green from the street renaming committee brought forth ten
names that were up for consideration. Two names were selected,
Wyndwatch and Kempton. Wyndwatch Drive is to replace Mary Ellen Drive
and Kempton Drive is to replace Ian Drive. The street re-naming
committee will now petition all of the homeowners on both streets
to get approval to change the names. The approval must
be 100% in order to re-name the streets.Re-incorporation committee chairperson, Michelle Slaton, has composed a letter requesting
approval from members in Hartsfield Village (Phase I&II) and Hartsfield Village (Phase III)
to merge to form one homeowners association. Once the approval
has been reached we will then file with the state
and become a legal corporation. Social Committee chairperson, Betty farmer
reported that the surveys are due. She also requested any
ideas for the entrance sign should be submitted by that time
as well. The entrance sign ideas could be submitted
to either the social committee or Mr. Sterling Arms.City Paving and Road Takeover committee chairperson Craig Isom, reported
that they are in the process of filling potholes throughout
the neighborhood. Debbie Williams, who has taken on the responsibility
of creating a neighborhood action plan, spoke about how to
make this neighborhood a thriving strong neighborhood. She reported that we
need to come up with goals to achieve and the
way to achieve those goals. She passed around materials that
show available funding and exactly how to create a neighbor hood
action plan. She emphasized that in order to make our community a better place
to live that we all have to pitch in and work as a team
striving toward the same goals.Betty Farmer spoke about the upcoming city classes/academy.
Staring on September 9th the city will offer a series
of classes that anyone can attend to learn about how the
city works. From learning about the water treatment plant to
seeing our city commissioners in action these classes are beneficial
and quite rewarding. Ms. Farmer attended these classes in the spring
and enjoyed them. She encourages anyone who is interested to
